Your Turn

Updated: Mar 27, 2020

I'm mostly staying at home these days -- the COVID-19 pandemic is hitting the Florida economy pretty hard now and most of my part-time side jobs are closed. My county is under voluntary Stay-at-Home advisement. I made waffles yesterday morning in order to use the gift of maple syrup I received from my friend at Dorset Maple Reserve, (just a shoutout -- this blog is not and will never be monetized!) and shared them with my roommates. Then I went to work at the last side job I still have. Around 12:30 pm, I got a call that one of my roommates (who had only been here a few weeks) had gone crazy. When I got home I found nearly every room in my house had been turned upside down. The cops found her naked in my neighbor's backyard and were putting her in an ambulance. That's all the details I can share here.

Today I am cleaning up. I'm not really motivated. It's a lot to process. I watched "All the Bright Places" on Netflix instead. Turns out it was exactly what I needed to do. For me it addressed mental health issues in a very realistic and touching way.

Here's the lyrics from one of the songs on the soundtrack. If you are under stay-at-home orders or recommendations, I'd love for you to share your stories with me, either by commenting here or messaging me.

Too Young to Burn

Sunny and the Sunsets

When I was just a kid they said Kid don't you cry I am older now I say It's alright Every tear rollin down Is a lesson learned

Are you too old to turn Are you too young to burn Too young Too young to burn Too young, too young Too young to burn Too young, too young

Now I sit by my window Watch the sun goin down, down And I see all the people Walkin around and round Every tear rollin down Is a lesson learned

Are you too old to turn Are you too young to burn Too young Too young to burn Too young, too young Too young to burn Too young, too young Too young to burn Too young, too young Too young to burn Too young, too young
